    Wijnaldum: “Salah and Hakimi convinced me to go to Rome” – Mourinho’s new student took the advice of two stars when choosing the team he would go to.

    The suggestions of Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi were influential in the decision of Georgino Wijnaldum, who was hired from Paris Saint-Germain to Rome.

    Wijnaldum, who complained about not getting enough time in his first season at PSG, was expected to change teams this summer.

    Relying on the advice of his friends, Wijnaldum aims to return to his old days in Serie A under the wing of Jose Mourinho.

    “The club went to great lengths to get me. I talked to Salah and Kevin Strootman about the team and the city and I heard a lot of good things from them.”

    “I also spoke to Hakimi. He said that despite playing for Inter, Roma is a great club. That convinced me.”

    “When I was at Liverpool I played away to Roma and the atmosphere was great. I wanted to play at a club with fans like that.”

    Roma’s transfer moves

    Adding Nemanja Matic, Mile Svilar, and Paulo Dybala to its roster for free, Roma also tied Zeki Çelik from Lille to their colors.

    The capital team, which closed the 2021/22 season with the European Conference League championship, raised the expectations considerably with the transfers.

    Hundreds of Roma supporters flocked to the airport to greet Wijnaldum.
