The transfer of Renato Sanches to champion Paris Saint-Germain has been completed. The 24-year-old made his way to the Parc des Princes after three impressive years at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, where he won the Ligue 1 championship medal in 2020-21.
Sanches looks set to replace Georginio Wijnaldum at PSG and the Dutch player is reportedly on loan to Roma.
How much did PSG pay Lille for Sanches?
The French giant bought Sanches for €15m (£12.5m / $15m); Lille bought him from Bayern Munich in 2019 for 10 million euros.
How long is Sanches’ contract at PSG?
The Portuguese player signed a contract with PSG that will last until 2027.
PSG will have the right to extend the agreement with the player for 1 more year if it wishes.
What was said?
Speaking to PSG’s official website, the midfielder said: “I am really happy to come to Paris.
“I am confident that I made the right choice by signing for the club.
“I chose Paris Saint-Germain because I think this is the best project for me. It was important for me to stay in France as I already know this league.
“I am frankly happy to join some of my Portuguese friends. This will also facilitate my integration with the team.
“I already know Nuno Mendes and Danilo Pereira, but I don’t know Vitinha yet. I spoke to Nuno before signing.
“And he said a lot of good things about Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
Why did PSG sign Renato Sanches?
Sanches will be the fifth signing for PSG this summer, following Nordi Mukiele, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha, with Hugo Etikike on loan from Reims.
The eyes of the French champion have been waiting for Sanches for a long time, who chose to join Christophe Galtier’s team in Serie A instead of transferring to Milan.
The arrival of the Portuguese player also strengthened the rumors that Idrissa Gueye and Wijnaldum will leave the team.
Will PSG make more signings in the summer transfer window?
While Galtier is reportedly looking for reinforcements on the defensive, PSG may get stronger before the transfer window closes.
Inter’s Milan Skriniar has been selected as a target to replace Presnel Kimpembe and the French player is said to be leaving Parc des Princes to join Chelsea.
Frenkie de Jong is also linked to PSG, but reports suggest that the Barcelona midfielder will likely be transferred to Manchester United if he leaves Camp Nou this summer.
