Huge praise to Darwin Nunez from Jürgen Klopp – The Reds have invested heavily in the Uruguayan forward, whose paths crossed in European competition in the 2021-22 season.

Liverpool manager Juügen Klopp has revealed that he is “in love” with Darwin Nunez and has decided the Uruguayan striker is worth the £64m spend.

The 23-year-old talented left-hander arrived at Anfield this summer as Liverpool looked to build a new formidable offensive line after Sadio Mane’s departure.

Great things are expected from Nunez, who follows in the footsteps of his compatriot Luis Suarez in England, and Klopp noticed the gem in the South American player in the Champions League last season.

Why did Liverpool sign Darwin Nunez?

The Reds defeated Manchester United in the transfer of Nunez and reached a happy ending.

Klopp told the club’s official website why he approved the transfer of the player who scored in both games last season.

“It was very impressive to play in front of us. In preparation for Benfica, you research players down to shoe size.

“We know absolutely everything about a competitor. So we know exactly the quality of Darwin.

“It was not clear whether he would play as he returned from the national team in the first game. It was obvious that he was really good. But when you see it live, it was really impressive.

“The power and mix of technique, desire, smart moves, the problems it causes us. We both fell in love with each other in these two games. A very aggressive South American, that’s a good thing!

Giant offer from Bayern Munich to De Ligt

“It was a real pleasure to watch him and when we realized we had a good chance to sign him we were ready for anything and we are really happy that he is here now.”

Will Nunez be successful at Liverpool?

The high-profile striker scored 34 goals in all tournaments for Benfica last season. He wore the number 27 jersey at Anfield and is looking forward to proving himself.

Former Liverpool star Suarez believes his colleague has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League and has qualities that fit perfectly with the demands of life in England’s top league.

While the Reds are trying to fill the place of Sadio Mane while transferring to Bayern Munich, Nunez, who will play with names such as Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, boasts of his speed, shooting power and scoring ability.
